Vivian Abuya is an accomplished Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit professional with over seven years of experience supporting financial institutions and corporate organizations to strengthen governance, manage regulatory risk, and combat financial crime. She brings deep expertise in enterprise risk management, AML/CFT compliance, forensic investigations, and internal control design, with a strong track record of helping organizations align risk management frameworks with strategic and regulatory
expectations.
Currently serving as Manager, Financial Crime Compliance & Forensics at Flywheel Advisory, Vivian provides advisory services to clients on financial crime risk management, regulatory compliance, forensic reviews, and control environment strengthening. She supports organizations in identifying financial crime vulnerabilities, enhancing AML/CFT frameworks, conducting forensic investigations, and implementing practical, risk-based compliance solutions that meet regulatory and operational demands.
Previously, Vivian served as Risk, Compliance & Internal Audit Manager at United Winners SACCO, where she led the implementation of enterprise risk frameworks, enhanced KYC and AML controls through risk profiling solutions, and drove risk-based audit programs targeting fraud, cybersecurity, and operational risks. Her work contributed to strengthening governance structures and reducing fraud risk exposure through proactive risk identification and policy enhancement.
Her broader experience includes key professional roles at Unaitas SACCO, Elimu SACCO, and PKF Kenya LLP, where she built strong capabilities in audit execution, fraud investigations, regulatory compliance reviews, and data-driven risk analysis across financial services and multi-sector clients. She is highly skilled in Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) advisory, forensic auditing, AML/CFT program development, and the use of analytics tools such as Caseware IDEA, Excel, and ERP systems to support
investigations and compliance monitoring.
Vivian holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) degree from the University of Nairobi and is currently pursuing the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification (Level 4). Her love for cooking and gardening reflects a creative spirit, patience, and a commitment to learning qualities she brings to her work in building resilient, compliant, and ethically grounded organizational environments.
