Mary Irungu is a highly skilled finance, audit, and risk management professional with over 15 years of experience in financial oversight, audit management, regulatory compliance, and risk assessment across diverse industries.

Currently serving as Manager, Forensics at Flywheel Advisory, Mary is responsible for conducting forensic investigations. She specializes in fraud investigations, risk management, corporate governance, internal controls, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance, having successfully led major assignments in financial services, petroleum, technology, and the humanitarian sector.

Prior to joining Flywheel Advisory, Mary worked with multinational teams to strengthen regulatory frameworks, enhance transparency, and drive operational efficiency. Some of the roles she held include: Risk, Audit & Compliance Lead (Global) and Head of Finance, Kenya at CloudFactory, Financial Controller at Kencor Petroleum Limited, Management Accountant at GAPCO Kenya Limited and Auditor at PKF Kenya.

Mary holds an MBA in International Business from United States International University (USIU), and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from the University of Nairobi. She is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K), and a Certified ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor. She is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional/ Europe (CIPPE).

When she’s not uncovering financial mysteries, Mary is a puzzle-solving, book-loving, karaoke-singing homebody. She’s also up for road trips, nature walks and bowling.
